I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and am proud of it. I also lived upstate NY a number of years and long to return to that peace full beauty of the countryside and the mountains. Though I have about had it with the insanity of the packed hustle and bustle City life, one thing I will always love and cherish is when the City gets blasted with a good nor’easter snow storm that just shuts down everything and forces everyone to stop and ‘smell the roses/snowflakes’. It’s a wonderful ‘Narnia’ atmosphere to walk out late at nite during one of these wonderful storms that was made for mankind to enjoy. Tree limbs, cars, streets, houses all covered in a white blanket creating a beautiful quietness that a even a subtle rain can’t bring. It muffles sounds even as loud as a fire engine, which become a quieted and distanced tone, almost enjoyable to hear because it now sounds like the low musical notes from a cello.
More amazing is the eight side octagon shaped snow flake. Each flake design distinct not one of them alike. Fantastic! How many of us have walked out into a snow storm and titled our heads back and tried to catch that cool almost weightless flake on our tongues? The eight sides of this wonderful creation brings to my mind eight thoughts:
1-Peace and tranquility
2-Clean crisp air that soothes the throat
3-Sitting with loved ones in front of a fire place
4-Time with kids to have fun like making snow angels
5-Time to relax with a hot cocoa and enjoy the winter beauty
6-Snow cones with your favorite syrup on it
7-Time to read
8-Least but not last and most important: Thankfulness in prayer to
God for the beauty of all creation including the snow flake
What thought does the eight side wonder of the snow flake bring to your mind?
